To Village Mato, 2025
Team size: 3
Role: Lead designer, Narrative designer
Dev Time: ~ 2 months

Background
Developed for a "Festival" themed Game Jam, To Village Mato is a narrative-driven casual puzzle game featuring a unique syllabic recombination mechanic. Players will explore a charming village, interacting with NPCs to solve their problems by breaking down object names into syllables and recombining them into new words. By deconstructing food items into phonetic components, players "synthesize" new ingredients required for the upcoming festival, progressing the story through clever linguistic manipulation and social interaction with the local villagers.
Contribution
As the Lead Designer, I managed everything from level flow and puzzle mechanics to the final dialogue scripts. A key takeaway from this project was the power of structured documentation. By establishing a rigorous narrative framework and detailed level mockups, I provided a clear vision and consistent goals for the team. This clarity in pre-production minimized miscommunication and ensured that every commissioned asset directly supported both the gameplay progression and the story’s atmosphere.
