Arctic Arena, 2025
Team size: solo
Role: : Level designer
Dev Time: ~ 3 weeks
Background
Developed using Halo Infinite’s Forge editor, Arctic Arena is a Free-for-All (FFA) Deathmatch map featuring four distinct thematic zones. As my first encounter with the Halo franchise, this project served as a personal challenge to deconstruct the series' core combat mechanics and integrate them into a cohesive level layout, as well as learning a new tool: its level editor.
-
Verticality & Flow: The design prioritizes open spaces and vertical dynamics, offering players multiple entry points to every section—a crucial element for the chaotic nature of FFA gameplay.
-
Visual Signposting: By giving each zone a unique theme, I created intuitive landmarks that prevent player disorientation while maintaining visual variety.
-
Architectural Storytelling: Set on a frozen planet, the map blends three distinct architectural styles to tell a story of ancient civilization under modern exploration, creating a rich, immersive atmosphere.
